2112 is the fourth studio album by Canadian rock band Rush, released in April 1 1976 by Mercury Records. Following the disappointing sales of their previous albums Caress of Steel and Fly by Night, in which both albums failed to chart in the top half of the Billboard 200, 2112 became the band's first major commercial success.

The band was in financial hardship due to the disappointing sales of 1975's Caress of Steel, which also got an unfavourable critical reception and a decline in attendance at its shows. Mercury, their international label, considered dropping them but granted one more album following negotiations with manager Ray Danniels. Rush were pressured to deliver more commercial material but decided to continue developing its progressive rock direction they had explored on Caress of Steel and made the 20-minute futuristic science-fiction title track occupy side one of 2112 with a collection of shorter songs on side two that display their hard rock roots.

Geddy Lee – vocals, bass
Alex Lifeson – guitar
Neil Peart – drums, percussion
Additional musician
Hugh Syme – ARP Odyssey synthesizer on "2112",[24] Mellotron[21] on "Tears"

00:00 01 2112
00:00 I Overture
04:32 II The Temples Of Syrinx
06:43 III Discovery
10:11 IV Presentation
13:53 V Oracle: The Dream
15:52 VI Soliloquy
18:11 VII Grand Finale

20:26 02 A Passage To Bangkok
24:00 03 The Twilight Zone
27:17 04 Lessons
31:07 05 Tears
34:38 06 Something For Nothing

#rush #2112 #progrock #canadianmusic #1976 #fullalbum #music #anthem #mercury #geddylee #alexlifeson #neilpeart #progressiverock #rock #hardrock #acoustic #guitar
